About Colin

I went straight from school into the Royal Air Force, to train as a telecommunications technical apprentice. That was just before I was 17! By the time I left the R.A.F. I was "home computing" as a hobby, with an Apple II+. Because of that interest I went on to apply for a government training course to learn how to be a computer service engineer.

A few years later I formed a company along with some friends, to make a sound sampler system. The company, Greengate Productions, lasted about four years, before running out of money. One of our customers help find me a job at Apple Computer, UK, where I worked in Technical Support, as a multimedia specialist.

I met Bob Stein, one of the founders of The Voyager Company, at a multimedia event sponsored by Apple. He invited me to stop by the Voyager offices in Santa Monica, if I happened to be in that neighborhood. As it happened I was about to go to California with friends on a holiday, and we did spend some time at Voyager.

I went back to Voyager on subsequent trips, and in February 1992 I emigrated to the US to work for them. That lasted about six years, with me programming about 20 or so titles for them (they were the top CD-ROM publish during the '90s). After that period I found myself at Funny Garbage, a company started by one of my Voyager colleagues, and on December 1st 1999 I became a full time employee there. I've been there ever since.
